(14,176 posts)and then tell us why making mainstream movies with African American heroes isn't profitable.

(24,544 posts)Is that one of those 70s Blacksploitation characters??
tishaLA
(14,176 posts)Oooops. Looking it up, it turns out it's called Blacula, not Blackula. That k would have fucked everything up. I guess.
OMG here's the Spanish language poster for it:
Great title, no?

(24,544 posts)Oh My God!!!
And yep, of course it's from the 70s. http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0068284/
Taglines: Blacula! - Dracula's Soul Brother!
He's black! he's beautiful! he's Blacula!
His bite was outta sight!

(885 posts)With Coates writing the new series, I anticipate they'll the bar should be set pretty high for the movie.
I'm hopeful, but not sure it's going to be as good as the main line hero movies have been (minus the latest fantastic four).

(24,544 posts)I've got some ideas:
What about the guy in Fruitvale Station?? Or the guy from Captain America: Winter Soldier?? He's a cutie pie with them cheekbones!
tishaLA
(14,176 posts)He's in a new film, I can't remember the name, with the same director as Frutivale. He's a talented actor and super handsome. Idris Elba might be available if he's not Bond.

(24,544 posts)Here's the guy I'm thinking about. Anthony Mackie (yes I had to Google his name) from Captain America
Just a tasty little piece of sexual chocolate right there...

(885 posts)I'm not tryin to crush all your hopes here, But...
All 3 of your selections have been in a Marvel movie. Idris is the only one I'd think could swap for another if he was so inclined.
It's not all bad news though, they could potentially all end up in the same movie down the line.

(885 posts)Black panther, the character will debut in Captain America: Civil War next year.
I think I've earned my nerd cred for the day. Back to the whiskey before I go off to sleep.

(24,544 posts)Oh yeah, he'll do.
But damn, ANOTHER Captain America movie??! Good Lord. The first one sucked big donky butt. The second one was much better. I guess it will be worth it just to see Black Panther but I truly don't understand why they keep making 6000 movies with the white guys (CA, Spiderman, Superman, Batman, Iron Man etc. etc.)
When the hell does my girl Storm get her own film???! Hopefully you can give me the scoop on that after you've woken up!
M0rpheus
(885 posts)Iron man, Thor, Hulk, etc are all the big names for them. Always have been.
Black characters at the moment are on the come up (not that there are that many of them).
Luke Cage will be a Netflix show, (Black)Falcon was a fairly substantial role in the last go round. Black Panther in his own movie after the next Captain America flick. Sadly, Storm is part of the X-men and the rights to her character are held by Sony. But... Storm is also the WIFE of T'Challa (Black Panther), so you may see her anyway, if they can get past the legal crap.
*I know entirely too much about this stuff*
I blame it on a not so misspent childhood and, the need to be reading something all the time.

Whatever the reason, I'm damn glad that you do know all of this! I thought I was a cartoon/comics geek! You and I are two peas from the same pod!
