I wont even bother to link to it.
I sent what I think is my 2nd alert in the entire time I have been here for someone accusing Obama of selling us out and it was left to stand.
Fuck this.
BainsBane
(57,680 posts)I alerted on the results too.
And the post didn't accuse Obama of selling us out. It made a foul comment about his exercising one of his responsibilities as President. I don't think a simple selling out comment would have even resulted in an alert.

(16,286 posts)Or do they only do one?
I had 3 posts hidden in one day, they were copy paste of each other, where I commented on the racists at DU attacking Bravenak.
And then this happens.

Now if you say anything about Bernie supporters, you are instantly silenced
BainsBane
(57,680 posts)It runs the risk of being hidden. Several people have had that happen. One alerter said it was horrible to say Bernie made a certain vote, except he did cast it. It's the vote that's horrible, not voters' noting it.
betsuni
(28,928 posts)That was his vote, why shouldn't the thing that was voted on be discussed? Wasn't hidden, and of course one juror went on about "the lengths Hillary supporters will go to guarantee her coronation" and voted to leave it so that everybody could "see what Clinton supporters are like." Hmm, writer of the article was a journalist, but don't let that get in the way. On the other hand, Hillary is single-handedly responsible for the Iraq War because of her vote.
BainsBane
(57,680 posts)If you point out the double standard, they won't acknowledge it.
That is the sort of thing that has permanently affected how I evaluate what is said here.

(11,833 posts)randys1. I'm not trying to argue with you. I agree. I guess I can only say that this is how it is now. I don't want to see you get your posts hidden. You're too valuable a voice here.

REASON FOR ALERT
This post is disruptive, hurtful, rude, insensitive, over-the-top, or otherwise inappropriate.
ALERTER'S COMMENTS
Sick of this shit, attacking Obama. I think this is the 2nd alert I have sent in many many years.
You served on a randomly-selected Jury of DU members which reviewed this post. The review was completed at Thu Dec 17, 2015, 06:13 PM, and the Jury voted 3-4 to LEAVE IT.
Juror #1 voted to LEAVE IT ALONE
Explanation: And I'm sick of shit like the TPP. Because of that, I see nothing wrong with this post.
Juror #2 voted to HIDE IT
Explanation: The post is inappropriate and over the top. It meets the criteria for hiding it.
Juror #3 voted to HIDE IT
Explanation: I'm sick of the right wingers swarming the place too. Time to get rid of some of them. Clear hide.
Juror #4 voted to LEAVE IT ALONE
Explanation: Please feel free to discuss on a political discussion board.
Juror #5 voted to HIDE IT
Explanation: No explanation given
Juror #6 voted to LEAVE IT ALONE
Explanation: Meh!1!!11!
Juror #7 voted to LEAVE IT ALONE
Explanation: No explanation given
Thank you very much for participating in our Jury system, and we hope you will be able to participate again in the future.

(37,481 posts)So many on this site make ABSOLUTE FUCKING POLITICAL PERFECTION the enemy of the good. It's the same crew that was critical of FDR back in the day. They will NEVER be satisfied. If Bernie gets elected (which I don't think he will but I'm still voting for him), they will be all over his case the moment he does anything even remotely centrist.
LiberalArkie
(19,574 posts)have done something wrong. Democrats have always held their elected people to a high level of responsibility unlike the Republicans. A republican will never ever find fault with their people. They are NEVER ever wrong. If a Republican President was to declare martial law no Republican would find fault.
We are Democrats, we hold our candidates and elected officials to a higher level, and we should. It is when we don't that we get in trouble.

(37,481 posts)Most vocal critics of President Obama never give him credit. Hmmm........ Another thing, it's one thing to offer a critique and another thing to be so hostile that you appear to be a Republican. Another hmm...... I'm not referring to you with my remarks, but I see this all the time. I'm a pragmatist. President Obama is the very best we can get in this political zeitgeist. There is no fucking way we are going to get the precise equivalent of FDR unless we have another officially recognized depression. Yea, I know people say we are STILL in a depression, but it has never been officially recognized and official unemployment (U3 I think) never hit 24% as in 1933.
Look, you and I will never agree, so let's just agree to disagree.

Jim Lane
(11,175 posts)Unlike you and just about everyone else in this thread, I post under my real name. So don't pull that "anonymous" smear on me, Cha (or whatever your real name is).
I voted for Obama over Clinton in the 2008 primary. I voted for him in both general elections, and went door-to-door for him in 2008. I'm no Obama hater. But I'm also entitled to exercise my independent judgment on specific issues. My judgment is that he's very, very wrong on TPP.
I'm hardly alone. A considerable number of people who overall support Obama (environmentalists, trade unions, etc.) have parted company with him on the TPP. That doesn't prove that we're right, but it does suggest that criticisms of his handling of this issue should not be dismissed as the product of "cheap pot shot shooters" (a phrase that some would consider to be vicious).
Exactly what wording constitutes "vicious" disagreement will inevitably be in the eye of the beholder. It's more productive to devote energy to setting forth the advantages and disadvantages of this particular proposed trade agreement. So far, most of the pro-TPP posts that I've seen on DU have consisted of (1) dismissing criticisms as based on mere leaks, although those later turned out to be essentially accurate, and (2) arguing that current law is pretty bad so the additional harm done by the TPP would be less than it otherwise would be. I personally am not persuaded by either contention.

(11,175 posts)I support President Obama. I also support both those organizations. My support, though, doesn't mean that I blindly agree with any of the three about anything.
That's a good thing, too, because they differ on this issue. If I thought all three were infallible, I'd have a problem.
By the way, has Hillary Clinton also earned your trust? In October, she said about the TPP: "As of today, I am not in favor of what I have learned about it." (Source: "Hillary Clinton Comes Out Against TPP") I think that's still her position.

Unless you are on here on a daily basis, CONGRATULATING Obama for any of these 318 accomplishments, then your criticism means absolutely nothing to me
http://pleasecutthecrap.com/obama-accomplishments/
Did he accomplish all this or didnt he?
hay rick
(9,513 posts)I believe in giving credit where credit is due without using genuine accomplishments as a justification for mistakes. If people can't disagree with particular policies without being accused of attacking the man then it is difficult to have a meaningful discussion. Yes, President Obama has done many good things, particularly given the counterproductive congress he has been stuck with for most of his two terms. But I continue to believe that his unwavering support of TPP is misguided. FWIW, I thought Proserpina's original post was over the top.
randys1
(16,286 posts)a reasonable attitude and are not here solely to attack and I appreciate that.
I have to laugh because you see I am a person who believes allowing ownership of DIRT or land by individuals or corps, is completely insane.
Get a teaparty govt and this would mean Waikiki Beach would be renamed to Koch Sand, and it would be reserved for his family only as would YellowKochStone, if you get my drift.
I also believe that we must nationalize oil/gas including all energy like electricity. Internet also must be nationalized in that we all must be able to have unlimited access to the fastest in the world, and we pay for it thru taxes, same thing with healthcare, no more insurance, etc.
I.E. I am so far left that even Bernie would get dizzy around me, yet, I can and will voraciously support and work on the Hillary campaign if my first choice, Bernie, is not picked.
I will do it as if your daughter or granddaughter's life depends on it, because it does if she ever wants reproductive healthcare.
So you can see why I get pissed at certain folks around here.

So young and handsome. OMG, was that an epic speech? I was watching live and making dinner that night. Dunno what happened to the dinner. All I remember was watching gape mouthed, thinking WHO IS THIS? WHO IS THIS? THIS IS AN AMAZING SPEECH! WHO?????
What really set him apart for me was his ability to find common ground. I have been frustrated with him at times, wished he was a bit more of a brawler, but you know what? This deal he did on the climate change pact? That was next level stuff. Fit perfectly with his skills set. He did ADA. Not perfect, but he did SOMETHING. Considering the BS with the GOP congress, he got a lot done. Not sure why he is so viciously attacked here.

I looked up the "Statement of Purpose" for your group, and here is what it says:

It doesn't say that you can't criticize the president. It doesn't say you can't criticize his policies. Presumably his policies affect African Americans, so I'm curious: how are posters who 'whine' about the president violating the purpose of the group?
