This is not a rhetorical question, this is not flamebait or trolling of any candidate currently running.
What I'm asking is what up-and-coming candidates for lesser offices (who will presumably run for higher offices in future) should we be donating to this campaign cycle, to keep them moving up through the political ranks? Who out there will keep bringing up the topic, moving the Overton window, so that at some point, Democratic candidates for President will not just assume the chances of passing legislation are nil? And will focus on racial justice in the broader sense as well, of course.
I'm willing to donate to more than just Presidential runs, so where should my money be going? Suggestions welcome.

Many white people don't even think minorities should get support from public programs that are supposed to be for all.

(11,243 posts)IMO, activists move the window, not politicians. Find effective local activist organizations who focus on racial justice and voting rights. Give money AND time to them.
The media can move the window too. Coates has been absolutely BRILLIANT. Were all talking about this now, right?
YOU can help move the window too, by learning AA history and policy so you can advocate for better policy on the local level. Read black authors and subscribe to black owned media outlets, then post, tweet and discuss to give black voices more amplification.
I have been recommending White Like Me by Tim Wise as a good primer for white people who want to get in touch with their own privilege. Someone in this forum, I forget who, recommended it to me many years ago, and I found it very helpful. Perhaps others can make some reading recommendations as well.

(89,244 posts)agree about learning about AA history and policies.
especially with the recent reparations comments bringing up slavery when much of it has to do with policies that would have affected people who are alive today.
so even if it may not get people to change views we should do all we can to put the truth out there.

(11,243 posts)I have posted this same thing, more or less, several times today, just in case there was a serious interest in learning more. So far crickets, but you never know who might be reading, or that one time that someone really was interested.

(2,034 posts)while its a great idea, there is so much hate out there against us that the idea is laughable and is not going to happen.
