Related: About this forumI am exhausted with the politics of personal destruction!
I think that it is some of Bernie's supporters that will do him in. Currently I'm understanding that they are looking for the Black vote! I'm seeing movies posted of how great Bernie will be for Black people, and how we (Blacks) really don't understand what's good for us, because we just don't know Bernie! It is like Black folks aren't informed, and we just need to come around to understanding that Bernie will give us everything, but those really mean Clintons took away our welfare, and jailed all of the Black people. Plus she's a this$$$ and she's a that$$$! BTW, Remember 2008...oh and here's the video!
They continue to throw guilt by association, and red meat name calling without understanding that many of us simply don't believe that rainbows and Unicorns will be handed to us if we simply start to feel the Bern, cause first there's a serious election that would need to be won!
Clinton has already been vetted for like 25+ years, so I certainly already know exactly what I'll get. Sanders has yet to be vetted by the opposition, but when the Republicans get around to it, it will be a blood bath. Some Black folks just happen to know this, cause we've been paying attention to elections and how it all works! Most damn well know that the Supreme Court is at stake, along with both houses of congress, and most know the ramifications of losing this election! That means Affirmative Action, Voting Rights, Civil Rights, Gun laws. There will be cases brought on due to Police Brutality, Abortions, and on and on! That is not anything that most of us are unaware of! And don't let me get started on how a lost election would affect this First Black President's legacy, and the 8 hard years he will have put in. A lot of what he did was via executive order, meaning it can all be reversed on DAY one! They would also repeal ObamaCare...and that's a lot of Black folks finding themselves uninsured all of the sudden...again! They will also shut down Planned Parenthood, and a myriad of other services that enough Black folks use often. "Some say" they will never repeal the ACA, but they've already passed 60 bills to do just that!
As far as policies (which are important to me), there's enough similarities, although Clinton's plans are more detailed and achievable. That's what I want! Not grand promises of 40 acres and a mule! Rather, I would certainly want the details of how these policies can be achieved in this specific political atmosphere of GOP Lock on the legislative abilities to pass any laws.
If Bernie is relying on a Revolution to get it done, but only after he is elected, than I'm figuring he can still do that even if he is not. I don't have a problem with that plan. Just sayin'.....

Personally, I can't get beyond the SCOTUS situation. That in itself will force me to do what I can to get a Democrat elected in November. And, Hillary Clinton is more than qualified to push a progressive agenda forward.
Long live the 2016 message of Bernie Saunders. May it resonate with a large portion of Americans to push toward a progressive agenda for all.

Ignore the hell out of them. I checked the rec list on one of them and it was like looking at the block list for this forum. It's obvious that passive aggressive crap aimed at black folks is how some Sanders supporters have decided they are going to lick their wounds from his defeat in Iowa. The GOP sure hates me. I am a woman. Bernie, sadly he does not have my interests at the forefront of his revolution, I am a side issue at best. So are you for being a woman while black. The BANKS don't matter all that much to me or you when our rights as women are put on the back burner one more time.
55 WAYS the REPUBLICANS WOMEN
Anyone following politics knows Republicans are launching a full out war on women. But you may not know how many anti-women votes the Republicans cast since January 2011. Well, a report released last week by Rep. Henry Waxman (D Ca.) has the answer: 55! Thats right, Republicans voted to take away womens rights or make their lives miserable 55 times. The Anti-Women Voting Record of The U.S. House of Representatives 112th Congress report includes some of the GOPs greatest hits, so to speak, against women, likeSeventeen votes which would allow health insurance companies to discriminate against women by charging women higher premiums than men or denying women coverage based on pre-existing conditions like being pregnant.
a vote which would allow hospitals to deny emergency abortions to womens whose lives are at risk, which NARALs Nancy Keenan has called The Let Women Die Bill.
Six votes against protections for women from violence and discrimination, including votes against protecting the confidentiality of domestic violence victims, and votes against additional funding for grants under the Violence Against Women Act
Votes to cut the Supplemental Nutrition Program for Women, Infants, and Children (WIC). (Because, you know, theyre the party of family values, which means letting pregnant women, new mothers AND infants go hungry

Bernie has not addressed this, our President has with Obamacare.
Where has Bernie been on all these issues? Where does he stand for us? Single payer never made it in VT, to costly yet he is selling it to voters.

Sigh. I want my equal rights, I want your equal rights. I want us to be able to chose. I do not want a government telling me what I should or should not do with my body. These social issues are being ignored by this man.

(24,592 posts)Very well said.
I understand why you slipped back here quietly: powerful voices draw the wrath of closed minds. A democracy lives through the exchange of opinions, ideas, and solutions from the wide breadth of its diverse population. Those who seek the glorification of St. Bernie are the antithesis of democracy seeking to silence all but the true believers.
As a financially comfortable black woman, this whole "class" thing doesn't reach me. And it's all I hear about.
It's funny. In Donna Edwards' literature, one of the bullets is "take on Wall Street". Sheshe, I agree. Don't mess with my 401K. So, I sidestep that bullet, and focus on who she is, what she's been through and who she can represent.
Once when I was making a poster, I accidentally left off the bullet about her work with veterans. Got called on it, put it in. But the articles I've written, the presentations I've given... "taking on Wall Street". Just not feelin' it.
So then, what does Bernie Sanders offer ME???? Does he emphasize how he will protect Planned Parenthood and Roe vs. Wade? Nope. Is he vowing to fight against the voter disenfranchisement that Republican Governors have swept the nation with? Nope. Is he talking about the problem of police brutality? I haven't seen it come up.
So, he hasn't won me over. I'm not feelin' Hillary either, but she talks to ME and my issues more than Bernie does.

as that would be the honorable thing to do, even if they refused, since he knows.
Unusual pairing of the Sanders campaign and Republican and ultra-conservative super PAC spending to attack Hillary Clinton. Of course the conservatives intent is simply to elevate an avowed socialist. One that Republicans, conservatives, and the Koch brothers believe will be easy to disparage in a general election. Dont believe conservative PACs are helping Senator Sanders?

Most posts about black people at DU are weird. There was one about having black students have a section of a dormitory, and most everyone's response was either "this makes me uncomfortable so it's bad" or "the black students have to learn to deal with discomfort." I don't think people hear themselves. Then someone replies with "segregation is bad" and I say "the enemy is white supremacy. White people using segregation to promote and enforce white supremacy is bad. People of color banding together to overcome white supremacy is not bad." No response. They ignore whatever doesn't follow their beliefs.

It's why I don't think Hillary should be the nominee this time around either. I just think she will energize republicans like a cattle prod, preview of which we have already seen in IA. If she loses in GE, and I think she would, there goes all Obama's executive orders, and maybe even ACA.

Your conspiracy theories about Hillary being "Obama's enemy" are weird and still fall far behind Sanders' clearly stated goal of not furthering Obama's legacy.
So if your concern is Obama's legacy, why in the world are you supporting Sanders?

So he was thinking that primarying Obama would push him to the left. I disagree with the tactic but agree with the stated goal. I disagree with Bernie on that, alright?

I think that's a lot worse, but maybe you don't.

(13,326 posts)I think Hillary will ruin Obama's legacy by losing to a republican. I hope that's clear.
