Those of us who lost innocents to gang banging crack peddlers -

No one else would help us. He is the only person to stand up for law abiding black Americans who lost in our case - a law school bound young black man to a punk trying to show his gang how tough he was.

It will be 25 years this Wednesday.

Thank you Bill Clinton for not casting away the victims as NHI- as was written on my cousins police report. We didn't see that report until June 2004.

Thank you Bill Clinton. Lots of liberals smirk about "black on black crime"

You actually did something.

To the OP -they were rolling out of their "turf" by the late 80's - they hurt their own. It wasn't innocent white kids buying heroin. It was innocent black people of all ages .

After FDR limited where black people could live - the majority hurt were those in inner cities.

Now can we please do something about M S-13?

So here we go -

What is the rate of death among black women when they are diagnosed with breast cancer?

Why does poor white woman get better treatment than the wealthiest black woman?

Our lives don't matter there -now do they?

But I don't hear the socialists whining about that because there is nothing in it for them to care. Right? They only care about their weed and what is in it for them.

So what exactly is in it FOR you to give a shit about what Bill Clinton said?

Fri Apr 8, 2016, 05:37 AM
Apr 2016

To say this is BLM is a little bit of an assumption. The issue with them is that it is a leaderless organization which has many independent agents doing whatever...which ends up reflecting on the whole message...which ends up not always that great! Due to being independent individuals and splintered groups, they can be easily used by others whose agenda is not theirs, and that may be their biggest downside.

I think the jury will be out for quite some time more as to whether the movement will end up making a positive mark on changing the history of violence against Black people...although it is keeping the conversation going, and that's excellent!

As for Bill Clinton's response, it was the truth as to what happened at the time! Some folks aren't old enough to remember, and some don't want to put it into context, as it isn't what they've read on FB and Twitter from Bernie Supporters!

I noticed that Bill Clinton didn't emphasize that Bernie voted for the same bill! He said "her opponent"...and I think he should have said Bernie's name!

Afterall, It was Bernie who said,
Before voting for that same bill, "It is my firm belief that clearly, there are people in our society who are horribly violent, who are deeply sick and sociopathic, and clearly these people must be put behind bars in order to protect society from them."

So why the hostile attacks on Bernie re BLM (he treated them with respect) and the defense of the Clintons, who have on several occasions had them escorted out of her royal presence.

Should you rename the group "AA for HRC"?

I have actively supported civil rights going back to the 60's and have a much loved AA niece. So do yourself a favor and don't embarrass yourself by making any assumptions about me and whether I support BLM!

If that's the case, then I would expect that you or anyone else who truly supports BLM would not defend Bill or Hillary Clinton when they put down/argue with/have "escorted" out BLM protestors at their events.

I did not post hoping for any particular response, but for some clarification.

Is it a prerequisite for posting in this forum that one be a Hillary Clinton supporter in the primary?

Is it a prerequisite to not question Bill Clinton's treatments of black protestors?

I realize that you are only one of the regular posters here. Do you speak for all of them?

So there's no rule about that. There is an understanding here that people who post here be respectful to the people who regularly post here. "I would expect you and anyone else who supports BLM" is not really respectful. People get to decide what they do and whether they "really support" BLM without your permission.

I did not intend to imply that I was giving or withholding permission to anyone with regard to whether or not they support BLM. I really did find this thread confusing. The point of the OP link seems to be to criticize Bill Clinton, but it was "liked" by the person who came to Bill's defense.

There is potential for an inherent conflict when the Black Lives Matter movement/actions overlap with any candidate's campaign speeches/gatherings. I have long made it a point not to post in this group since I really didn't understand why some BLM actions/members were defended here and others were not. I still don't understand that, but I will leave that issue to your regular posters/members here.

Again, I appreciate the civility of your response.

I highly respect BLM but perspective is/was needed. I spent a lot of my childhood in the house because of that era. My parents were fearful we could possibly succumb to the bullshit in the streets during the 80s. Their concern was definitely not a political game.

Folks have too much singular vision in regards to those times, especially if they didn't experience it.

or answering their questions and concerns? He talked about black lives for the entire time. He may not AGREE with the protesters, but he engages in the debate honestly and lets them set the agenda. He answers their questions, does not attempt to divert or derail. They may not LIKE what he says, but you try to disrupt Bill Clinton's speaking event, you get what you get. He is smart AF, still charismatic, and he is a surrogate, not a candidate, so he can be more aggressive than Hillary or Bernie Sanders. He was ENJOYING that exchange, you can tell.

I dunno, you pick a fight with Bill Clinton, you might be punching outside your weight class. If the protesters paid more attention to what actually happened back in the day, they might know that. Gawd he was brutal when attacked by political opponents. He didn't start the fights, but if you tried to get dirty with him, chances are you would find a horse head in your bed the next day. He never did shy away from conflict.
