(7,419 posts)The fact that our African American citizens face discrimination and bigotry in every facet of their every day lives couldn't be made more clear. A constant drip, drip, drip (coupled with the occasional WHAM! of overt racism) that takes it's toll.
Climate change deniers don't have anything on race problem deniers.

(4,452 posts)The problem is most of this hemisphere has been run by western Europeans living a life of exploitation, racism, and genocide. We have never come to terms with the fact that our prosperity (those few who may have it) is only because of the exploitation of others.
Here's a thought. There is no way I can ever step into your skin and really understand how every moment of my life is controlled by the color of my skin, or the faith I follow, or not.
What I do know is that we are all more the same than different.
Don't let the economic elite and power centers divide us based on some imaginary concept of race only to exploit us all.
I can't really make amends for the sins of my brothers or my fore fathers, all I can do is look at every man as my friend and slap down anyone who thinks otherwise.
