(20,571 posts)Yes it is a sad day for you for sure. Your dog passed with much love to another place. The way I look at it is that when we send our beloveds with our love, it blesses the spirits of all our loved ones who have passed. It's all we can really do - love.

And very sorry to hear about your dog. I lost one of mine recently. He was old and sick. It was time for him to go. But it still broke my heart to say goodbye.

(31,849 posts)Last week, without thinking, I stopped by a Card store to pick up a card for her. I spent about 20 minutes, sorting through the cards, as I take pride in giving cards that say what I really want to say and what I really feel. When I, finally, found the card, it dawned on me that I had no one to send it to. I bought the card, anyway.
About the dog, we inherited him from Mrs. 1SBM's Mother at her passing. He was 15 years old and in bad shape ... we just couldn't bring ourselves to put him down. The one comforting thing was Mrs. 1SBM was out of town, so she didn't have to experience/watch him pass.

(41,956 posts)There's so much evidence of people not loving one another, not feeling empathy for people and the other beings we share this fragile old life with, that though I am sorry, very sorry you're sad, you come across as a man who loves his mother and whose dog had a fine life with someone who mourns its passing.
Those whom you love are lucky to have you.

(81,179 posts)I'm a complete mess when we lose one. You think - yeah, yeah, yeah, it's just a cat, or it's just a dog, or it's just a bird, or it's just a horse... But never mind that! It's something you LOVE (and that loves you back).
