BLM activist ran for City Council in Charlotte, NC and won big 😃

I posted in GD about it too. Probably sink like a stone due to the many posts on VA elections, so I also wanted to mention it here. This feels like extra-good news to me after the divisive primary. White and black Dems came together to give talented political newcomer and activist Braxton Winston a resounding victory! Hopefully a harbinger of better things to come.

2. I am so impressed with this man.

He wants to build a continuum between past present and future. He is a young leader with the right ideas.

I hope I am right about him. I hope he runs for higher office after a while.

It's hard to go from activist to politician and hold your base, plus he is going to have a huge target on his back after this election. GOP will be organized in their attacks next time.

Last young person I saw run this strong this early in local Charlotte elections was Anthony Foxx, but he was from a more traditional political mold.

The Charlotte protest group identifies as Charlotte Uprising, so that might be why.
