So Harris was wrong apparently.

"There is no vaccine for racism" Future VP Harris

When she said that line. I noticed it went viral immediately after she said it last night. Unfortunately according to Harriot, she's wrong.

There is a vaccine for racism tho...
Economic parity.

It will help as will equal education but it does not attack the heart of racism which is needed to kill it off

It's not a vaccine or a cure, but economic parity wouldn't hurt the situation. Long story short, the senator's statement stands.

Don't face racism?

Economic parity is important, and it will help people of color tremendously but it won't cure racism.

just retired...when I go back to work next summer, even as a teacher which is my plan, I'll still make mid 100Ks with retirement.
Not rich but definitely doing well.

I still jog with my drivers license, military ID, and two credit cards in case I'm stopped and possibly arrested.

You just made me smile and tear up that you've made it intact so far. Wow.

I've counted 8 times in my life of being stopped or pursued by cops driving or in a car while black. The first time was when we first came to the U.S. I was 8 and terrified and will never forget the young cop's face as he drove by. The last time was 5 years ago while moving and suddenly realized that I was on the lam for whatever. Luckily I pulled into a neighborhood, saw a young white guy coming out of a house. I parked behind him to ask how to get to my address - I had to think of something. He gave me the lengthiest routes to my house that he could think of, then suddenly stopped and said, "He's gone now. Just give it a few more minutes before going home."

Still, for some crazy reason, I have a false sense of security keeping 7 drivers licenses in my wallet.

I mean is there a Black person who doesn't? Sad reality of life in America.

Searched for drugs as an active duty enlisted man getting out to finish college. Had my college registration materials, active duty ID card, didn't matter, they searched my rental like I was a drug mule.

I have been fortunate. Some people have helped me along the way. The good luck of some DNA giving me some brains despite parents who weren't...well, very good at the job. Some good fortune. Sure, grew up poor, but thankfully, I have made it to 50 intact and with a good future ahead.

It's why I'm a Democrat. I don't believe we do it all on our own. We get help. We help each other.

absolutely, I've found solidarity, not just ally-ship, in the least likely conditions. For sure I've found both in Democrats who, to me, are also more likely to become the former rather than remain the latter. It's sad that the reality is it takes so long. I'd be remiss though if I didn't include that there was an elderly republican neighbor who was a godsend during the most trying time of my family's life.

But I had to LOL about the number of IDs, expired and current, that we keep handy like talismans to keep us safe psychologically and physically when going out and coming in. It never really sank in until this conversation that it's thing.
