Today is the 1st Juneteenth as a Federal Holiday

Not often publicized, but there are Musicians, Artists, Poets and Writers from coal country that fall into the loose identity of "Afrillachian". Walter is just the one I know best because of my love of mountain music.

3. I guess I'm Affrillacian too then hailing from W. VA.

I was born but not raised there.

We used to go on outings to the Blue Ridge mountains and the coal miners museum.

And I learned that cardboard boxes work wondrously as summer sleds on clear, grassy mountains tops.

It’s a beautiful place.

But I never took to country music.
