Got this idea for a political thriller.

The scene: World is in turmoil over fascists getting elected and doing what they do, harming and killing and so on. There is a chance it can be handled if only the liberal in a place called United Cool Dudes & Dudettes
can get elected, but there is a fly in that ointment.

As there is this progressive candidate who at the worst possible time imaginable decides to run 3rd party.

She/he decides that since she/he could likely get almost half of the Cool party vote, and would get most of the independents and about 25% of the No Good Fuckers party given they were mad at the current prez who acted like a dictator, that she/he can actually win.

So she/he announces this and of course the expected result is enough votes are siphoned away from the Cool Party candidate and the dictator is reelected and a year later their enemy is in charge, etc. Or worldwide nuclear war, or I fast forward in the story 9 years to worldwide calamity due to climate change, so much to choose from for me the writer, eh!

Just a thought. Would this come under horror or political?

disclaimer: I am in no way attributing these fictional characters to anyone in real life

documentary or thriller or horror or sci-fi. Fantasy or make-believe. Definitely not romance or science or children's section. Unfortunately probably going to end up on Walmart's remainder tables.

But I'd buy a copy!

You know November is that writing event where you get 30 days to create your novel. It's mentioned in another post here recently. You should go for it.

Personally, though, I think you should somehow give it a good ending. I fear we are creating our own grim reality with all these dystopian novels so popular these days. Maybe if some writers could come up with happier endings we could actually avoid the coming destruction of everything. I have always been a dreamer, though...
