What Fiction are you reading this week, November 16, 2025?

I'm reading I Inherited a Mixed Animal from Uncle Living in Woods, by Richard Martin. First, I'll say I'm pretty sure I was an English teacher in a previous life because whenever I see improper spelling, my blood pressure goes through the roof. Like when someone uses "are" for "our".
So, when I first started reading this book I had to stop and have a chat with myself. "Calm down. These words are being spelled like that on purpose, to define the character of the narrator. Just go with the flow."
I did and soon found myself laughing with delight. I've never read a book that's made me laugh so much. And I've only just begun.

Speaking of laughing, I'm listening to Crosstalk by Connie Willis, a very funny tale about some of the problems with today's technology. Being connected all the time is maybe not the best idea.

2. Finished Murderland/Caroline Fraser which reads like fiction. Stephen

King was in the region at the time. I wonder how much he was influenced by the corporate corruption and men turned into monsters.

Ran away to Three Pines to clear my heart and soul.

the book justice. The horror and Guggenheim corporate ‘murder’ runs deep.

5. I'm reading Lee and Andrew Child's Exit Strategy,

the 30th Reacher novel. I’m about halfway through, and it’s pretty standard Reacher stuff.

Based on the earlier books, Reacher is now 62. Even at 6’5” and 250 pounds, how long can he go on beating the hell out of people? Maybe a long time. Burke has a new Dave Robichaeux novel coming out early next year. Dave and Clete are now their 80s , and still going strong.

Next up, The Christmas Books of Charles Dickens.

7. Maybe the authors could write stories from their youth?

I’m waiting for Exit Strategy on my library hold list.

Meanwhile picked up Lee Child short stories Safe Enough.

6. "We Are Water" by Wally Lamb

At this rate I’ll still be reading it next week and the week after. However, like most of his books, I’m enjoying it. I love his character driven books. I Know This Much Is True is one of my favorites, as I too grew up with a family member who had paranoia schizophrenia, and went through all the bad and good times that come with it. His new book The River is Waiting is going to be my holiday gift to myself.

8. Seems like I'm always late to the reading party!

I'm reading, "Scorpions Tail," by Preston and Child. Corrie Swanson, FBI agent, and Nora Kelly, archaeologist, are reunited in the mountains of New Mexico to solve an old murder, and battle government malfeasance. There is also a good looking young sheriff. What's not to like?

11. Finished the book last night.

What an absolute delight. It's unique and kept me smiling and laughing all the way. Well-deserving of a Noble Piece Prize. I plan to read it again every few years. I like your take on politics. Just after I finished it the universe sent me another chuckle from my bedside radio which is tuned to an oldies station. They played La Grange, which I hadn't heard for many years, and it mentions your town, several times. Too funny.

14. I am going to read "The Citadel" again

I read it whenever I feel dejected by the state of science, reality etc. It reminds me to not give up on science.
I mean yes everything is hopeless, but at least there is a genuine satisfaction to be found in science sans ..I don’t know…community or something, that neither humans nor machines can destroy.

It helped me when I lost my mom…she had an excellent oncologist, but cancer is never easy to beat.
Denny was always my favorite person in the book-this cynical alcoholic..
