I, Mammal

I've just read an amazing book called I, Mammal, and it's all about what makes us mammals. It goes into fascinating detail about every aspect of mammals (teeth, bones, blood, behavior, the placenta and on and on) and how we differ from other animals. The chapter about the brain makes it clear that the mammalian brain really is special, so incredibly unlike the reptilian brain that it's probably fair to say (this is me talking, not the author of the book) that there is pretty much no way any reptiles would have evolved the kind of intelligence that lots of mammals, not just humans, have.

It's a new book. Author is Liam Drew. I recommend it highly.
