I just watched the Green Lantern movie and thought it was pretty good....

I don't know what people were expecting from a space based comic book. I think they did a good job of threshing out Hal Jordan's' personality and I think they set they made Oa look credible.

I just wonder what people were expecting.

Too many storylines, so that nothing could be properly developed. And unfortunately Van Wilder has all the on-screen charisma of a dead fish. They could make a sequel focusing on John Stewart or Kyle Rayner (no, not Guy Gardner -- dead boring character all-round) and probably save the franchise with better casting and tighter storytelling.

My personal bugaboo -- Kilowog looked flabby and gross instead of powerful and intimidating.

I thought it played out pretty good. I thought the special effects were really good.

I just don't think it was as bad as everyone said. Like I said in the OP, it is about space.

My wife liked it alot.

Parallax, and Hector Hammond. I thought the outer space/Oa scenes were great, and the training scenes were good too, but my problem is that they were hardly in space. I wish they would've had him in space/training for a majority of the film, while fighting some non-discrept villians(Man hunters perhaps) and in dealing with the Manhunters you see that Sinestro is slowly turning evil, and breaks away from the Corp at the end of the film.

I did like the Sinestro ending of the GL movie, him holding the Yellow ring was awesome! I wish they would continue with a better sequel. Reynolds did...okay, average, but I thought Mark Strong was great as Sinestro, I wish they would've focused on the Sinestro/Hal angle instead of bringing in the blob of Parrallax.

As it oozed into the lab it sure didn't seem all powerful.

Kind of like the Stay Puff Marshmellow giant in Ghost Busters.

But I think as far as origin and the Hal Jordan story, it played out pretty good.

alright.

I had the most trouble with the visual aesthetics of the movie. It was really dark and grungy, didn't suit Green Lantern at all.

The story was passable, though the could have trimmed it back, as said. It wad enjoyable enough, though it would have been better if they'd used Hal Jordan (not sure who Reynolds was supposed to be, but it sure as shit was not Jordan)

I think they should have gone after the Sinestro story line instead, and limit the Parallax.
Parallax looked dumb...

It is similar to how the last Fantastic Four with the Silver Surfer could have been great, without Jessica Alba and the Misty Galactus...
