$3.99 an issue and they were taking six issues to tell a story. It’s hard to justify spending $24 for one story.

Comics back then, AFAIK (and remember), were read almost exclusively by children, who didn't have much to spend in the first place.

It was quite a spending spree to get both a comic *and* a candy bar at the local drugstore.

Interesting, that candy bars, which also sold for about a quarter, are now selling about $1.50, right at the price point we'd expect with inflation. Candy bars, though, have always been purchased by children and adults.

Just an observation.
