"First came Man of Steel. Next up is Batman vs. Superman. And then, Justice League.
Confirming the studios plans for a movie based on its iconic super-team for the first time, Warner Bros. president of worldwide production Greg Silverman said the studio has set plans to make a Justice League movie.
Like Man of Steel and its follow-up, which starts production next month, Justice League will be directed by Zack Snyder. Henry Cavill is expected to return as Superman, along with Ben Affleck and Gal Gadot, who play Batman and Wonder Woman, respectively, in 2016s Man of Steel sequel tentatively titled Batman vs. Superman.
It will be a further expansion of this universe, said Mr. Silverman. Superman vs Batman will lead into Justice League."

I'm surprised the regulars in this group haven't posted this already. There seem to be more DC fanys than Marvel fans here.

(43,867 posts)WTF, Metal Men??? Jesus fucking Christ, Warners/DC, just sell the Wonder Woman rights to Marvel so we can get movie worthy of this character!

(25,586 posts)I just think they're firming up plans over time.

(22,340 posts)They are clearly trying to do what Marvel has done and, at least at the comic level, DC is nowhere close to doing that.
There are things DC does well that I wish Marvel did, but overall, when it comes to "universal" concepts, Marvel is far and above. Hell, DC has to go back to the "Secret Origins" thing because so much of their universe is a clusterfuck now. Just look at the return of Hydra and how Marvel handled that through so many different titles and media forms. Just at the basic level, DC hasn't done enough fleshing these characters out like Marvel did leading up to Avengers.

(25,586 posts)The Hulk went through multiple iterations, the first Captain America film was unimpressive, and Iron Man was only a success because Robert Downey Jr turned out to have been created specifically for that role.
Goblinmonger
(22,340 posts)Though I didn't mind the first movie. I thought first Captain America was actually pretty good.
My main concern with Justice League is that they only have Superman and Batman and as much as I like Snyder, that he made Superman an angsty Batman-lite bothered me a little. Even with the Hulk and CA films you mention, they were still true to their contribution to the Avengers. Is the Justice League going to just be one big gothfest?

(1,681 posts)A lot of Marvel characters are misfits, misunderstood and just plain unlucky. DC's heroes are too perfect, too "godly" and seen as way more goody two-shoes compared to Marvels misfits.
Apparently DC got the memo to make their heroes "unhappy" from here on out. Batman has always had serious "parenting issues" so he's good to go. I'm sure killing his son was a total DC corporate dick move.

(43,867 posts)Marvel has it's fans - a much wider fan base than DC but not nearly as deep.
For DC fans, we see that universe as sacred and the heroes there as demi-gods.
We don't want (our interpretation of) each story to be tinkered with unless we give our expressed permission.
I'm a bit more open minded, myself. When Zach Snyder floated the "kara Zor-el as mother of all Amazons" trial balloon, effectively giving Wonder Woman a distant Kryptonian heritage, DC fan lost their fucking minds! In fact, though, early Kryptonians on earth is the perfect back story for ancient myths about Gods and Goddesses.
Superman killed someone who was promising to kill millions of people? Yikes! Time out! Not cool! (even though DC's prohibition against their heroes killing was put in place to appease German-American psychiatrist Fredric Wertham who warned that comic books were a negative form of popular literature and a serious cause of juvenile delinquency.
I could go on but DC fans are like Star Trek fans. We believe we own stock in the company and should have a say. Marvel fans are like Star Wars fans. They complain, but eagerly lap up anything they get regardless.

(8,217 posts)Jesse Eisenberg = Lex Luthor.
I can accept Affleck and Gadot, but Eisenberg as Lex? A bit too far for me.
Goblinmonger
(22,340 posts)Amy Adams as Lois Lane was ridiculous, though. A journalist who won a Pulitzer for war coverage in Afghanistan would wear heels to the Superman in the desert thing? Nope.

(8,217 posts)Luthor exudes confidence.
Eisenberg's characters tend to be motor mouth jerks due to their insecurities.
I will still watch it, but not sure about that part.
