Impossibly Early

Sometimes in my dreams
I lie sleeping in my mother's arms again
until the smells of lake water, pine trees and bacon frying
overpower the faint linger of Dial soap on my mother's neck
where my face hides a few more precious moments
from the impossibly early summer sunrise.
