Inevitable Endings
“We’re all going to die.”
Someone small has said out loud
Not wrong, but inhumane
A poor excuse for cruelty
We all should live our lives
With hope, joy, and happiness
Though we know it’s not possible
For everyone to have their fill
But is that knowledge an excuse
To batter one another,
To steal bread from the mouth
Of our lonely next-door neighbor?
Knowing we all will die
Is proof that all stories end
But human lives are worth much more
Than all the words that can be written down
The inevitable ending
The final bell in the morning chill
It should pull us all to one another
As we fear our common fate…in the end.
