Soaring free
High above the city
In the choking filthy air
Looking downward on the labyrinth
Streets, empty, deserted
Refuse-filled
I, the Raven
With oil-black wings
Curious eyes
No light reflecting
Searching for food
On the ground below
My time to eat
Is overdue
Diving downward, no food for me
Only scraps, rotten, disease-ridden
The buffet of the poor who live in the city
Thrown to the gutters
Trash in the sewers
No nutrition to serve my needs
I must fly onward

Soon, I see an open grassy field
Carefully curated
Flowered and trimmed
A mansion unreasonable
There, filled with people
Chatting aimlessly
Vapid, overdressed
With gold-gilded dresses
Suits over-formal
Pretenders in life
I swoop down to the crowds
In their empty conversations
The food on the tables
Just decoration to them
Those wealthy life-wasters
Parasites on the poor
As I land on the table
And feast on the riches
I swallow, then suffer
As the food destroys my insides

I stand still on the table,
Look around at the crowds
And I notice the truth
Dead on the insides
A flock of vultures
Dressed to the hilt
While I, a lonely raven,
Take a bite from their spoils
Where are the rest of the ravens?
When will we get our revenge?
