to choose the right words

to choose the right words

to start a poem again with no purpose but need
perhaps the accident will take the correct turn
as the meanings shift and all the wounds bleed
definition takes precedent the empty pages burn
to caste about in vain for an image focus to find
searching empty thoughts hoping for illumination
now feel the deep pain inhibiting a melting mind
canvass covered in blots creating art’s destination
to choose the right words arranging each in order
insert punctuation to stop or to start or to pause
from a limerick to a dirge all in the page’s border
knowing when to trim or chop sentence to clause
to paper from hand heart and soul barely legible
to see how much to impart both strong and fragile
