the use of words
though i write these words for myself i hope others see them
uncertain convoluted twisted and slipping in and out of logic
to fly and soars as if birds yet clustered and flocked on a limb
moments before morning is lifted as a chorus to sing of magic
pencils scrawl and pens scrape across the purely virgin page
rubbed out here or blotted there in an almost illegible morass
made to speak no chance of escape a breeze or a storm rage
a stress and an intonement where sounds form a fist of glass
the typewriter clicks in hesitation loudly in a dim empty room
single notes straggle full of stops gradually build to crescendo
ending breathless in a realization of a lifetime’s eventual doom
sound softly shifts and drops before exploding to the sforzando
as muted tiny clicks whisper now when will touches disappear
fingerprints smear the screen somehow will they seem sincere
