Hey folks, hoping to find a Hugo Gernsback expert.

I have been trying to find some idea of the values attached to the first 4 issues of Amazing Stories in good condition. I can’t get much of an idea from eBay or publicly accessible auction houses since none are currently being offered. There was one I saw with an ask price of 600.00, but the condition was pretty bad. The 4 we have are in pretty good shape. Any clues?

Most really aren't that valuable.
The thing that makes some titles worth more are the authors. Issues of Black Mask with Dashiell Hammett stories may get some high bids.

Those issues of Amazing have famous authors, but those stories by Verne, Wells, and Poe are reprints and not first appearances.

Another thing that makes some pulps valuable is the art. Those covers were done by Frank R. Paul.
He is a popular artist in that field, so there may be some worth.

I am accustomed to finding even the oddest items when I research them, and am a bit surprised that I can’t find any of these for sale or auction, but that one in poor condition. There are plenty of offerings of the later issues and reprints, but, this first four just aren’t showing up.

I’ll try to access other sources or private dealers. I don’t want to sell them, just appraised before I get them framed.

as to things I might buy for investment but mostly for framing and to enjoy. Do you know anything about original science-fiction cover art? I've always wanted an original.

I do know that there are a lot of forgeries. Original art is in another league than old magazines. Good luck finding an original Frank R. Paul.

Drool ! Sure you don't want to split them with a fellow DUer? For a good price of course. ;->

They will be priceless someday. Well maybe not. Who knows I'm not an expert. They're priceless to me right now. And I seriously do want to buy one off you. Or all four.
