Josh Beckett needs to go for the good of the franchise.

Last edited Fri May 11, 2012, 04:36 PM - Edit history (2)

It's not that Beckett doesn't get it, he just doesn't care, and that is the most damning characteristic an athlete, someone who gets paid millions of dollars to achieve his greatest heights possible in order to help his team, can possess. But it isn't just his public perception that Beckett clearly doesn't care about. Last September proved he doesn't care about his team, causing his manager, trainers, and countless others to lose their jobs.

And he's still here. Why?

Ben Cherington now has the unenviable task of trying to find some team willing to take this infectious load off his hands. The Red Sox will have to eat a significant portion of Beckett's contract, but what else is new? Add it to the list.

If Beckett is here next month, it's a clear sign that the Red Sox don't care what you think either. Really, in many cases they don't, but they have now hit a critical crossroad. An ever-growing contingent of fans is beginning to realize the flapdoodle they're being fed, sold, and lied to about day after day. Did you see last night's "distribution" crowd? It was of course, another sellout, a lie that keeps perpetrating and makes you wonder what other kinds of deception they have under wraps.

I never liked Beckett and wouldn't miss him for a heartbeat.

It just seems like he's been a burden that long.

It's not like I do a lot of research for this crap, ya know.

I'll see if I can edit it.

Arrogant, disruptive, he's not producing and his influence is making others not give a shit...he needs to be benched, bring up some Triple AAA guy so the others know they better shape up also.

So, he does what he wants. Smells a bit of "Manny being Manny" some years ago.

Bench him. Problem is, their bullpen is working so horribly these days, finding a starter that will do better...good luck.

No blame for the bullpen: Actually, there hasn’t been any for weeks now. If the Red Sox starters are the cool kids who get Ds and don’t care, the bullpen is filled with drama club members who strive for, and achieve, high marks. Excluding Darnell McDonald’s one inning of work in that 17-inning loss to Baltimore, the bullpen has an ERA of 1.07 (eight earned runs in 67 innings) over its last 17 games.

When he was behind the plate, the Red Sox had one of the best staffs in all of MLB.

Veritek was probably good for lowering the staff ERA by a run or more all by himself. I also maintain that they still miss their old pitching coach, John Farrell. They are on their third pitching coach in the three years since he left to manage the Blue Jays. They were both exceptional at what they did.

Nice to see the Red Sox have flown past my Nationals in terms of organizational dysfunction. Good going guys!
