Looks like Miami traded their whole team. Saw it on Twitter, can't find anything yet.

(20,365 posts)The Marlins have dealt shortstop Jose Reyes and pitchers Mark Buehrle and Josh Johnson to the Toronto Blue Jays. Super utility player Emilio Bonifacio and catcher John Buck also are headed to Toronto.
In exchange, the Marlins get two shortstops: Yunel Escobar and Adeiny Hechavarria.
The Marlins also receive pitchers Henderson Alvarez and Justin Nicolino, according to FoxSports.com's Ken Rosenthal.

(10,115 posts)were also trying to get Reyes and Johnson, and trade their top prospects, so Toronto beat them to it. It also makes me believe that the Sox are not comfortable with the SS position. So, does anyone know anything about what Toronto gave up? Does this trade bankrupt their prospects?

(44,228 posts)He might hit .260 with 15 dingers and play slightly better than average defense. Hechaverria (sp?) is a defensive god with superhuman speed, and was just starting to become a hitter in AAA Las Vegas last year. Then again, everybody hits in Vegas. He's the gem in this deal. Henderson Alvarez is a young pitcher with good upside.
As always, Jays fan blog Drunk Jays Fans is the place to go for the real analysis:

(42,998 posts)Bryce Harper To Marlins' Giancarlo Stanton: "You Can Always Come Play For The Nats!"
Last winter, the Miami Marlins, with a new name and a new state-of-the-art ballpark with an eyesore of a home run sculpture, were big spenders. They brought in a manager in Ozzie Guillen, a man more colorful than the team's new pastel uniforms, as well as high-priced free agents Jose Reyes, Mark Buehrle and Heath Bell.
So what became of the Marlins? Well, like a fish being prepared for dinner, their roster was gutted. Bell, who had beef (which is not fish) with Guillen, was traded last month, while Guillen was fired after a controversial season. Hell, despite being a trainwreck, Showtime canceled the Marlins' season of "The Franchise" series after just seven episodes. They couldn't even stink right.

(7,429 posts)I can't wait to hear the crap they will spew today on the LeBatard show. How exactly does this put a winning team on the field?? I thought everything was gonna change when they got their stadium. Bunch of liars. I should have known better, but I'm out now. A fan for 20 years and I'm done. I have the Miami Heat until June and a nice long summer waiting for the Dolphins to return.
