The Minnesota Vikings unveiled photos of their new stadiums design on Monday, which the organization said would make it capable of hosting more events than any other stadium in the world.
Tonights unveiling showcases a bold, iconic design delivered by HKS, Vikings owner and president Mark Wilf said in a statement. Not only is this facility unique to Minnesota, but the stadium will also provide Vikings fans with the best game-day experience in the NFL, which has always been our goal.
Some of the stadiums proposed features includes what the organization described as the largest transparent roof, which is possible from the first use of clear ethylene tetrafluoroethylene (ETFE) in a stadium in the U.S. The team said that the stadium would also have the biggest glass pivoting doors of any stadium, which will open to the Minneapolis skyline.
Groundbreaking for the new 65,000-seat stadium will take place in October 2013, and the new stadium is scheduled to open in the 2016 season. The stadium is expected to cost $975 million.

(29,883 posts)As El said, the Cowboys stadium is looking more and more outdated which is a problem for the future since more and more teams will want a crazy looking expensive stadium

(22,340 posts)it was the heating system. And that roof was up nearly 30 years before that problem.

(22,143 posts)Ever since they went indoors it's been a long string of futility. In the PPE days, the cold was a significant advantage for them.
Goblinmonger
(22,340 posts)and, yes, the cold was an advantage, but it certainly didn't help us win any Super Bowls. I think the 1998 team was the best they have ever had and but for Denny Green being a giant shitbag and taking a knee against the Falcons at the end (I mean, seriously, you have the best offense the NFL has ever seen to that point and you taking a fucking knee?--yeah, I'm still better), we may have gotten our big win.
Plus why would any NFL venue do something to make it so that their new stadium doesn't get the Super Bowl bid? Fiscally that seems stupid to make a new stadium that you know will never host the Bowl.

(10,893 posts)playing in a dome would be an advantage because of all the crowd noise being trapped in.
