It's tennis time again......yup, the French Open starts this Sunday at 4:00am CST.

and it's looking like Serena is ready to roll.

Serena gets down to work

World No.1 Serena Williams finally made her first appearance of the year on Philippe Chatrier Court early on Friday morning before appearing at the media day in the afternoon. The reigning Wimbledon and US Open champion cut a relaxed figure and seems confident of adding a second French Open title to her trophy cabinet, 11 years after the first.

and hoping for another FO win for him. Also happy to watch David Ferrer. I enjoy watching him. Saw that one of my other favorites who recently retired is working there, Fabrice Santoro He interviewed Serena.

I have not figured out a favorite woman player or even several yet. There are a few I am watching and hoping to see them come through. Serena is always fine with me although I always had a preference for Venus. Never sad when they win but would sure like to see some other women begin to really challenge Serena.

So happy when the slams are on. I pretty much make myself stick with watching them because otherwise I would never get anything done.

Not that there has been a lot of challenge but you know how he gets sometimes and even in the earlier matches he starts to suck before he pulls it out? So far he just looks happy and comfortable and very easy about it all.

Nadal and Djoker are going to have to duke out the other half.

There are some pretty good future men playing I think. Lots of women although I have not watched them enough yet to pick them out as watchers. As long as they don't shriek, lol. They can grunt and groan and make lots of noise but please stop the little girl shrieking.

I watched the Bartoli match yesterday. I used to really dislike watching her but I enjoyed it. She is a nut, really interesting nut to watch. I don't mean that in a bad way just that she is really odd compared to all the others, her mannerisms and coping skills are very interesting. She is a scrapper, I will give her big props for being a real scrapper.

even if he does end up winning...seems more focused this tournament...if he keeps it up, he has a chance...not a Djoker fan, but I'd love to see him knock off Rafroid in the semis. Sorry Ernst Gulbis lost today...he could have given some of the top men trouble, but he's very inconsistent.

Looked iffy for a while so I did dishes and only peeked in. LOL

What is it with the attitude of some of these guys? Simon talking about how women shouldn't earn as much, their games are not as attractive etc. and Tsongas and his comments after the Azarenka mess when she was playing Sloane Stephens in Australia. He commented that they had hormones and stuff that make women too unstable to have dominant women in sports. Has he met Serena? Just to name one.

I only bring this up because I just heard about what Simon had said today during the match. Harumph and grrrrrrrr.

Anyway, YAY Federer

Also great for Serena, Kuznetsova and Hooray for Ferrer as well, looked bad for a while but he is a scraper. Wish they would play the Radwanska match on NBC.

the only argument they have is that the men play 5 sets in the majors vs. the women playing three. However, I do think Serena could quite happily play 5 sets amongst others.

Regarding misogynist Tsonga, we'll give him some respect when he can show us he can win maybe ONE major. That f*&*head isn't fit to make any criticisms. Only four people (2 female, 2 male) have won Golden Slams in their careers in the open era - Steffi, Andre, Nadal, and S. Williams. Do you know who did it all in one year - 1988 - that's right FEMALE Steffi Graf.

19. I'd say Serena is ready: Serena Williams: 'My body has never felt better'
Mon Jun 3, 2013, 04:46 PM
Jun 2013

After some health scares, Serena shows she's in good shape now.

Serena Williams has definitely come back after health problems that included stepping on glass in 2010 and a pulmonary embolism in 2011.

The tennis star graces the cover of Essence mag's July cover, wearing an ombre Carmen Marc Valvo swimsuit and Ben-Amun hoop earrings.

"I feel lighter, I feel healthier, and even though I'm 31 — which really isn't old, but for an athlete, particularly a tennis player, it's old — I promise you, my body has never felt better," she says in the magazine. "Considering how much I've played and how much I've done, I feel fine. I'm strong ..."

Her 5-foot-9, 155-pound body gets a lot of attention, including her backside, she says. So she's happy that curves are cool.

"It can be a bit weird," she admits. "Before it was, 'Serena has a big butt,' and that was all. Now there are way more people who feel comfortable with themselves and they're saying, 'I'm a woman, and this is what I look like.' I always say, 'We're popular now! We're finally in style!' "

Meanwhile, she has been rolling through the French Open in Paris. She faces 2009 champion Svetlana Kuznetsova in the quarterfinals on Tuesday.

I have to admit I was rooting for Kuznetsova. No problem with Serena except her outburst at the US Open. That has remained a bad taste for me. As an athlete she is top notch, her game is wonderful and her strength is great to watch. Her big butt? People really comment about that or care? Good grief. Oh well, as far as the rest of the women left I will certainly be pulling for Serena.

What in the world was with Federer today? 2 sets with 27 unforced errors? <--something like that. Wow. Tsonga looked good and looked ready. Fed did not even have a sad smile, he was smiling after his loss. I think he really meant it when he said he was not ready to retire but wanted to continue to play as long as it was fun. I hope that is so for him

YAY Ferrer! Not that I am usually pulling for underdogs but he and Haas are really fun to watch and I would love to see one of them win in the semis. Wawrinka would be good to see as well. More days of good tennis to come

Jun 2013

I HATE when this happens to me. Where I live I have a lousy satellite to watch on. The feed is jerky and in and out when it gets cloudy and when it rains it is gone. My internet connection is wireless and the tower is quite a ways away so it is not capable of even posting the points on the site let alone watching it online. The local station would replace tennis coverage with anything it can and often when the coverage is on the network I don't get to watch. "What? We would be pounded if we did not show Wheel of Fortune" (I missed US Open coverage of a record breaking chance for Agassi after rain had postponed many matches. I was livid). So my point is, this happens to me all the time and I hate it. To be that person who blows it for someone else just killed me!

I will refrain from posting. Really, coverage is so difficult when it switches from here to there to somewhere else often making you watch something you have already seen before they cover the next match and then switch again before that is over. My husband is stunned by how I have to search for the Slam matches. Oh well. I will stop posting until it is over because frankly I never really know what I am watching, if I have not seen it before I have to assume it is from this day but sometimes it is not. It has to be this way for everyone isn't it?
