Dolphins suspend guard Richie Incognito

http://sports.yahoo.com/blogs/nfl-shutdown-corner/dolphins-suspend-guard-richie-incognito-nfl-investigates-claims-045206231--nfl.html

Dolphins guard Richie Incognito was adamant on Twitter this weekend that he was a victim of false speculation that he bullied Jonathan Martin, and wanted his name cleared.

The Miami Dolphins are going to wait to see what the NFL says about Incognito's innocence.

The Dolphins have suspended Incognito while the NFL investigates the situation, NFL.com's Jeff Darlington reported after speaking to Incognito. The team announced the suspension shortly after that.

SNIP

Here was the team's statement late Sunday night in announcing Incognito's suspension:

“The Miami Dolphins have suspended Richie Incognito for conduct detrimental to the team. We believe in maintaining a culture of respect for one another and as a result we believe this decision is in the best interest of the organization at this time. As we noted earlier, we reached out to the NFL to conduct an objective and thorough review. We will continue to work with the league on this matter.”

3. Update: Report: Incognito made threats, racial remarks to Martin
Mon Nov 4, 2013, 12:33 PM
Nov 2013

The Dolphins’ tone yesterday got a little more grave with every passing press release regarding the Jonathan Martin situation.

And now we know why they moved so swiftly from keeping it at arm’s length to suspending guard Richie Incognito for conduct detrimental to the team.

According to Mike Garafolo of FOX Sports, multiple sources said Incognito sent text messages and left voicemails “that are both threatening and racially charged in nature,” and that copies of both have been turned over to the league for its investigation.

That helps explain why a team that said they hadn’t been told of any bullying changed course so swiftly, announcing last night that Incognito was going away for a moment.

These are not good at all

http://deadspin.com/report-richie-incognito-called-jonathan-martin-a-half-1458148723

Adam Schefter ✔ @AdamSchefter

1: Richie Incognito left this VM for Jonathan Martin in April 2013: "Hey, wassup, you half n----- piece of (expletive)...

2. More Incognito to Martin: "I saw you on Twitter, you been training ten weeks. (I want to) (expletive) in your (expl) mouth....

3. Incognito VM to Martin: &quot I'm going to) slap your (expletive) mouth. (I'm going to) slap your real mother across the face (laughter).

4. Incognito to Martin, all on same VM in April 2013: &quot Expletive) you, you're still a rookie. I'll kill you."

And this is why the Dolphins suspended him. Oh and I hate to say it, but if it's true that Martin went to Philbin about all of this, Philbin should be fired as well. None of this should be allowed in any place of business

Everyone involved in this should be embarrassed. Incognito is a moron for acting like this and will probably lose his career. Martin will never work in the league again either because he 'll be considered too weak to play in the NFL. No one wants a wuss in the locker room.

The whole thing comes off as ridiculous.

Incognito is a thug and a fucking racist pig criminal. that's a bit more than just being a "moron", dear.

Martin has NOTHING to be embarrassed by.

This isn't about someone being a "wuss" as you so disgustingly put it. It's about extortion and threats.

fuck. I wish you'd go away.

This bullying and hazing is commonplace throughout the league. It happens all the time, everywhere. Rookies are made to pay for ridiculous, elaborate dinners and trips and all sorts of other things totaling in the hundreds of thousands of dollars. They are abused something terrible and no one ever talks about it. Because it's just part of the pecking order, the rites of passage.

What I said in calling him a wuss is how he will be viewed by the coaches and players, it's not how I see it. That's what they will think of this guy, that he's a wimp and a coward for not standing up for himself.

No need to attack the messenger.

this is so far beyond bullying or hazing. No, it doesn't happen everywhere at this level. You don't have a winning franchise with this type of shit going on.

And yeah, your post surely did minimize this outrageous shit.

Disbelieve me all you want. I know how these people are and how they think. Certain institutions have this mentality. Sports, military, prison and certain other "macho" occupations. Weakness is frowned upon.

I'm sorry to let you in on this ugly truth.

Why are you blaming the victim in all of this?? Have you seen the messages Icognito sent to Martin?? Why should anyone put up with that in the workplace - any workplace??

Icognito looks like a complete ass in all of this. He already removed the tweets he sent to ESPN and Pro Football Talk where he wanted to clear his name. I wonder why??
Oh and here is the report about him never being a Dolphin again

It's absurd to claim that this level of violent rhetoric and racism is widespread in a game where the majority of players are AA. Furthermore, the league will crush Incognito like a ripe grape. If nothing else, Goodell hates this kind of publicity.

This reveals a level of total dysfunction in the Miami franchise.

Bullying and racism are rampant in the NFL except it's mostly black players ripping the white and mixed players. Oh yes. What do you think? That these guys go out there and play nice and fair with each other? All sports are about intimidation and the mind fuck.

You obviously have no clue what these guys say to each other on the field and in the locker room. This might seem like an extreme example but that's only because it has been made public. I'm telling you, this is commonplace. Most players suck it up their rookie year and go on to dish it in subsequent years.

You're mad at the wrong person. I didn't do any of this.

Or hang around a locker room. I know full well what I speak of. I don't get why you have to be so mad at ME for merely pointing out the culture.

I didn't make any of this stuff happen. Why is so hard for you to believe that this goes on? Do you want me to provide links? It's really easy for you to find stories on all of this.

Look up rookie hazing in the NFL.
Look up on field racism.

Here's a pretty good insider book.
