No HC in his right mind is going to instruct his team to play soft...and the dangers behind head injuries and concussions weren't known back in the days of Dorsett and Marshall anyway..

Of course they did. I knew of 'punchy' ex boxers as a child. Surely the coaches knew, maybe not as much as now but they knew. And very little has been done about it.

and I'm not at all sure what you expected football coaches to do about suspicions based on little more than punchy boxers.

Football is a high risk, high reward profession..nothing needs to be done other than putting the information out there so everyone can make an informed decision.

evidence at the time, but if there were issues, it was blamed on drugs and alcohol.
