The Baltimore Ravens may have stood behind Ray Rice for months following his domestic violence arrest in February, but the team is now doing what it can to distance itself -- and its fans -- from the disgraced running back. One day after terminating Rice's contract with the team, the Ravens announced on Tuesday that fans will have an opportunity to exchange their old No. 27 jerseys at stadium stores.
Rice was released by the Ravens on Monday just hours after TMZ released a disturbing video that showed him punching his then-fiancee Janay Palmer in an elevator at an Atlantic City casino in February. Shortly after Rice was cut by the Ravens, the NFL announced he would be suspended indefinitely.
The Ravens and NFL were not the only ones looking to cut ties with Rice, who pleaded not guilty to a third-degree charge of aggravated assault in May and was accepted into a pre-trial intervention program, after viewing the TMZ footage. The producer of Ravens jerseys, Nike, also dropped Rice, reported Darren Rovell of ESPN on Tuesday.

(5,946 posts)there is a connection between animal cruelty and people cruelty. I guess I just think if you can kill an animal with your bare hands because it lost a brutal fight, how close is that to injuring a person?

I believe people can change, especially if they lose pretty much everything as Michael Vick did. I hope he has changed, and I hope Ray Rice can change. If after a suspension there are significant signs that he has changed, I wouldn't object to Ray Rice being reinstated. That said, I doubt he would get another shot as, if his last season was an accurate indicator, he's past his prime and running backs are taking a backseat.
I hope both he and his wife get the help they need, whether they choose to stay together or not.

(5,946 posts)made a single mistake (wrong, he made several) and that if you are a good person like him 23 hours a day that people will only remember the 1 hour a day you are not a good person - Uh, yep, that is sort of the way it has to be, you should be a good person 24 hours a day, idiot.
