(78,249 posts)actually 3-0, as the Niners dispatched the Chiefs right around the time of the Series.

That KC-Seattle game was a terrific display of run game & defense, it was a shame either had to lose and to turn around and fly to Oakland.
Also read that Carr made some plays on the game winning drive. Nice win

(31,191 posts)a sign he could be growing out of his rookie status. He made some good choices and throws, read his options when given the time, though still telegraphs the ball way too much IMO.
KC may have been lethargic in this game, but the Raiders O-Line pushed around their defense pretty well, as did Oakland's defense do a great job of harrassing Alex Smith. Only when it seemed the Oakland defense changed style in the third quarter -- playing further off the receivers, blitzing less -- did K.C. come alive. LBs Khalil Mack and Sio Moore played well, though they almost blew it with an excessive celebration following a Smith sack late in the 4th. Justin Tuck called a heads-up time-out to avoid a penalty. Morons. Video here: http://www.si.com/extra-mustard/2014/11/20/video-nfl-oakland-raiders-sio-moore-khalil-mack-celebrate-chiefs
Fun, satisfying game to watch in the rain and mud. Ray Guy's HOF induction was honored by ex-Raiders (Long, Otto, Madden, Allen, etc.) at halftime.

The Raiders won, but I'm not about to get too excited over this game. I think KC would've won if they played tonight like they did all season. They just got caught napping in the 1st half and didn't seem to take the Raiders seriously. Considering how horrendous the Raiders typically play in the 2nd half, KC might've been under the impression that they'd come back (which they did) AND hold the lead. But to most people's astonishment--they blew the 20-17 lead.

(17,087 posts)I dislike the Raiders, greatly, (Darryl Stingley) but it's bad for the league as a whole for any team to be noncompetitive.
As for the Chiefs, this loss made them about 16% less likely to make the playoffs, which is a pretty big shift for one game - they really put themselves in a bad situation. Alex Smith doesn't seem to be able to throw downfield - where's Matt Cassel? http://fivethirtyeight.com/features/nfl-week-12-playoff-implications-show-the-cardinals-some-respect/
