Patriots’ Brandon Browner wants injured Seahawks’ Richard Sherman, others, targeted

Brandon Browner wants to lower the Boom on his former Seattle teammates — and he wants it lowered hard.

In fact, the Patriots cornerback, who spent the previous three seasons in Seattle, said he plans to tell his new teammates they need to target injured Seahawks cornerback Richard Sherman (elbow) and safety Earl Thomas (shoulder) in Super Bowl XLIX. And if either of his former teammates gets hurt even worse?

Well, that seems to be part of Browner’s plan.

“Those dudes are tough,” Browner told ESPN in an interview that was released on Monday. "Watching the (NFC championship) you see Sherman was holding that arm like he had a sling on. But at the end of the day, this is about the Super Bowl. I’m going to tell my teammates ‘Go hit that elbow. Go hit that shoulder. Most definitely. Hit it. Yeah. Try to break it if you can.’

And the response from Seahawks' K.J. Wright: Targeting 'unacceptable'.

Seattle Seahawks linebacker K.J. Wright was disappointed to hear that former teammate Brandon Browner said he will tell his New England Patriots teammates to try to hurt injured Seahawks Earl Thomas and Richard Sherman during the Super Bowl.

"I didn't know he said that, but we don't play like that," Wright said Monday. "We don't go out there and try to hurt guys. And I don't care if they do have an injury. We're not going out there trying to hurt people, and especially guys you're close to. If he said that, it's fine, but that's not our main focus."

Thomas separated his shoulder in the NFC Championship Game and Sherman sprained an elbow ligament. Both men are expected to play on Sunday.

Browner, in an interview with ESPN's Josina Anderson, called Thomas and Sherman tough, referring to Sherman's injury and how at the end of the game "he was holding his arm like he had a sling on it."

But it could be roid rage as he's already been caught once using performance enhancing drugs and has a physique that if he were playing baseball in the late 1990s, early 2000s would be deemed questionable.

He said it stupidly, but you'd also have to be pretty dumb to believe this is anything shocking. If anything, it just shows why BB is less than forthcoming when listing injury reports, which primarily serve the opposition's game planning, and the line in Vegas.

Remind me about this again, after the first cheap shot at Gronk's knees.

These guys are professionals. They livelihood depends on their physical abilities. Grow up.

I understand exploiting weakness. My son is a college wrestler. If he sees someone has a bad shoulder, he is likely going to do moves that exploit that injury. But he doesn't go out there trying to injure it worse. Jesus.

I said it was a stupid thing to say, and apparently Sherman understands as well.

Sherman downplayed the comments Tuesday at media day.

"BB doesn't always say things the way he means them, but we know what he means," Sherman said. "We're OK with him, and he's OK with us. He's a competitor."

"He was just caught up in the moment," Sherman added. "He didn't mean any malice. It's one of those things. We know him as a person. Sometimes he exaggerates a little bit, but we know who he is.

"But nobody intentionally hurts anybody in this league that I know of. Guys have respect for one another and Brandon does, too."

If anything happens to Thomas or Sherman during the game now, short of hurting themselves high-fiving after a big play, people will be screaming that the Pats did it on purpose. Given that football is a pretty rough game anyway, it's somewhat likely that they'll further injure themselves to some degree and we'll have "injurygate" next week.

They always have their excuses all lined up and ready to trot out. Every. fucking. time. They remind me of that repuke Ben Carson saying he would be against Obamacare even if it worked.
