Jaguars rookie Dante Fowler Jr., the No. 3 pick in the 2015 draft, tore his ACL on Friday when he went down less than an hour into the first day of rookie minicamp, the team announced.
After playing in every game in three years at Florida, Fowler is expected to miss the entire 2015 season.
The defensive end's left knee buckled during an 11-on-11 drill. He dropped to the ground, grabbed his leg as he rolled from side to side, and eventually got helped off the field. He was able to put some weight on the leg and was later carted to the locker room for tests.

I hate to see this. He hadn't even signed his rookie contract yet. So demoralizing for a team and fans hoping to reverse years of frustration.

Unfortunate for Mr Fowler and for Jacksonville. Fortunately, depending on the nature of the ACL injury, he could theoretically still play after rehab. Treatment of ACL injuries has been getting better and better, so they're not all necessarily career-enders. But it will still take a lot of time and luck.

(17,087 posts)Heuerman, a third-round draft pick last weekend, became the second rookie league-wide to suffer a season-ending ACL tear during a non-contact practice. Jacksonville Jaguars defensive end Dante Fowler Jr. suffered a torn ACL on Friday and is expected to miss the 2015 season.
The Broncos were in jerseys and shorts -- no helmets -- for an afternoon workout. Heuerman was in the open field during a special-teams drill, planted his left leg to cut and the knee buckled. He was taken for a MRI early Saturday evening, and it confirmed the initial diagnosis by the team's training staff that he had torn the ACL.

It all went down on February 1st around 10 PM when 21-year-old Fowler arrived to the complex with a woman believed to be his girlfriend...Fowler's baby mama...confronted (them)...in front of an elevator. Fowler gets between the two women -- but instead of breaking it up, he steps back and uses his arm to signal for the fight to begin...
