(29,322 posts)I see he won two races finished 2nd in a third race, the wiki page says. The Rebel stakes was a sloppy track and he was the heaviest horse (I was always baffled why people would go to the dog track and bet on some random ass dogs such as my dad, my mom mentioned a time where she noticed the sloppy track & figured out the heaviest dog who always had the longest odds had the advantage -- don't know the advantage a heavy horse has as I imagine the horses don't have much variation though I'm don't know more than a few horse breeds)
He won by Eight lengths at the Southwest Takes after advancing to a quarter-mile lead. Seems like he is fast & powerful.

(1,607 posts)....he has a good appetite; is a little tired but that should be expected. Baffert is shipping him back to Churchill tomorrow to train then will send him on to NY the Wednesday before the race.
AP is the most talented 3YO colt and he is a freak. I don't see anybody that can really challenge him in the Belmont. So, yes, I agree with you.

(675 posts)And is put to pasture gelded. End this unnecessary abuse of horses. If anyone wants to see how these beautiful, innocent animals are really treated google the name Scott Blasi.
I don't see how anyone with a heart could participate or watch such a cruel display of human depravity that is horse racing, don't you people have a better use of your time than to cheer the heartless whipping of these noble creatures?
If you doubt me watch the replay of the stretch run in the Derby, that poor horse was whipped more than 30 times!! How anyone with a heart could watch that is beyond me, what is wrong with us as Americans that we tolerate this behavior in the 21st century? What is wrong with us that 100,000 plus people gather and get drunk to watch animal abuse all the while it is celebrated on national TV!
What did we not learn from Eight Belles and Barbaro?
If 100 people gather in some remote area to watch roosters fight we (rightfully) call for them to be arrested and jailed yet millions watch cruelty wrapped up in pageant and it's a 'glorious tradition'??
Slavery was once considered a 'tradition' too, what they do to these horses is much the same.
The people that breed, own, sell, train and ride these horses are ABUSERS, if you are a fan you are condoning that abuse. Please, find the compassion in your heart and instead of cheering the abuse work with the majority of right thinking people and end this misuse of animals.
Just yawn and cash your ticket.
How many horses will die on he track this week?
How many thoroughbreds will be trucked off to the processing plants?
Face it race fans, you're sociopaths. Watching animals suffer isn't amusement or sport, it's cruelty.
If you watch it you condone it.
99% of people on this site agree with me.

(675 posts)Are you happy you profit from the exploitation of innocent animals?
Did you win money on Eight Belles?
Tell me what you think of what happened to her.
Tell me what you know of Scott BlasI, you're a big racing fan, surely you know of Curlin and Rachel Alexandra, he trained both of them till he was exposed as sadistic.

(10,115 posts)He was much the best in small Preakness field handled a pretty good group of horses in the KD. I just don't see any horses challenging him on the front end. at Belmont and if that happens, no horse will pass him in the stretch. I hope they finish out the year racing this horse and not retire him early. I'd love to see him run against the older horses in the Breeder's Cup. Wise Dan against AP would be great interest to the racing public...providing Wise Dan steps up away from the Mile Race.
