The Angels, in desperate need of pitching depth due to injuries, reportedly had been close to a deal with Lincecum since early this week.
Lincecum, 31, is coming off hip surgery and held a showcase for interested teams in Scottsdale, Ariz., on May 6. The four-time All-Star won back-to-back National League Cy Young Awards for the Giants from 2008-09, but has posted a 4.68 ERA in more than 600 innings since '12, while dealing with declining velocity and physical issues.

Kids: That's alright, we need him for second base.

(78,249 posts)Sucked to be the team that knocked out one of our starters only to be greeted by a two-time Cy Young winner. It's all about the $$$, I suppose.
I'm trying to understand your comment but can't. Maybe I've been away too long.

(20,365 posts)Is he really worth that? He was getting an astronomical $35M last year. His left hip is shot. I think mine is too.

(31,156 posts)Freak will never match his velocity of old so it's all going to be about location and movement for him. He must have enough of the mechanics back for Anaheim to give him a try. If it works out that $2m contract could be a bargain. The Giants are confident with their younger-ish bullpen, at least until Romo comes off the DL.
