Madison Bumgarner's latest home run put him in elite company

Thread posted by Recursion in the Baseball Group begs to be posted here ...

Over their last 190 plate appearances, Bumgarner has hit as many home runs as both Mike Trout and Bryce Harper. It's still pretty early in the year, but that might be our favorite fun fact this season.

Bumgarner hit a two run homer in the fifth inning against Atlanta yesterday, June 2. It was the winning hit of the game. He also fanned 11 in 7 2/3 innings.

The DH is for morons.

The game was a 6-0 shut out. Bumgarner's two-run homer was just the first score of the game Brother Buzz Jun 2016 #2

I tried to look up the pitchers with the highest batting average. But that statistic isn't even listed.

Give it up. And quit calling me a moron.

The DH is an abomination to the game of baseball. For 104 years, the pitcher was always required to hit. Thanks to the AL the have seriously damaged the integrity and sanctity of the game.

But you say "integrity and sanctity"? Nothing has damaged it as much as PEDs. That ruined all the records that measured modern players against the old ones. As far as pitchers? I have never been very interested in a pitcher's batting record. And the DH's batting stats are just as good as if he played in the field.

However, earlier this year (09 April), Bumgarner did score the only run of the game against the Dodgers, another home run.

Go Giants!
