Related: About this forumBetting-scandal ref says NBA suspended Draymond to prolong series
http://www.sfgate.com/warriors/article/Betting-scandal-ref-says-NBA-suspended-Draymond-8127391.phpA disgraced former NBA referee says that the league suspended Draymond Green in order to extend the Finals and boost the series' entertainment value, according to Sports Illustrated.
If Tim Donaghy is right, the ploy worked: the Cleveland Cavaliers defeated a Warriors team that for much of Monday night's game looked helpless against LeBron James and Kyrie Irving. Certainly Green's absence was a factor in Golden State's 112-97 loss....
When he was officiating, Donaghy said it appeared that referees were instructed to give teams down in a series breaks on calls.
"Definitely indirectly with the tape sessions that took place and how they would show you plays that they wanted you to concentrate on ..." Donaghy told SI. "It was always a situation where the team down in the series was going to benefit from those calls."

WTF indeed ...

Man, you must want this bad. I mean, come on, the Indians are in first place. Then again, this being an even-numbered year, we might well find ourselves in the same boat come October. And there's always the Browns-Niners matchup in Super Bowl MCCLXII to look forward to.

(31,163 posts)3. I'll be happy if either the Warriors or Cavs win ...
I haven't a preference. Same with Cleveland/Giants World Series, but that will never happen.
I think Donaghy's statement is absurd and I think Sports Illustrated shouldn't be promoting it.

They make millions more by prolonging the series...follow the money.

I could easily see him smashing a chair over someone's head.
