Big 12 wants to see all of Baylor’s sexual assault investigation
Big 12 Commissioner Bob Bowlsby demanded Wednesday that Baylor turn over all details contained in an independent review that led to the firing of the schools president and football coach.
Hours after the request was made, Baylor interim President David Garland, who acknowledged an ongoing NCAA investigation, said that he plans to meet with Bowlsby to discuss how the school handled its sexual assault investigation.
This is believed to be the first time the conference has asked one of its schools to turn over an internal investigation. Bowlsby said he first asked for information on May 24, which was two days before Baylor announced that it had removed coach Art Briles, reassigned school president Ken Starr and reprimanded athletic director Ian McCaw.
There is no official written report. Rather, the Baylor regents issued a summary, which contained recommendations but no names or dates. Lawyers from the firm Pepper Hamilton gave an oral presentation of their findings to the regents. Some of the victims have been identified as Baylor female athletes.
