El Paso Chihuahuas groundskeeper Nate Jones died after sustaining injuries in a Nov. 29 crash, police said in a news release Tuesday.
Jones, 24, was involved in a crash on an Interstate 10 West on-ramp.
El Paso Police Department officials said Jones was involved in a collision, and while he and the other driver were exchanging information on the Schuster Avenue on-ramp Jones was hit by a truck at 6:46 p.m. and was pinned against his car.
He was transported to University Medical Center of El Paso with serious injuries and died Monday night.
"It is incredibly heartbreaking to lose our head groundskeeper, one of our original first season employees," Chihuahuas General Manager Brad Taylor said in a written statement. "It has been an extremely emotional week and we share in the sadness and pain the Jones' family is enduring right now. We are thankful for the overwhelming outpour of support both locally and from friends all over our baseball community."
