Miami Gives Lin a Rough Time as Heat Beat Knicks<snip>
"The next phase of Jeremy Lins N.B.A. education began Thursday night, under a deafening din, amid a sea of black jerseys that seemed to blanket every inch of floorboard at American Airlines Arena.
The Miami Heat did not just guard Lin. They attacked, swarmed and engulfed him, turning the Knicks point-guard sensation into a flustered mess. In the final game before the All-Star break, the Heat demonstrated the full extent of its superstar powers at both ends of the court and routed the Knicks, 102-88.
Lin, unable to find much room to operate or any steady rhythm, had his worst game since his fairy-tale run began three weeks ago. He finished as many turnovers as points (8) and only three assists and went 1 for 11 from the field as the Knicks (17-18) slipped below .500 again."

(68,918 posts)He'll get better. One game does not a flop make. Here I will reference Tebow. Just this once.

(7,429 posts)Now all of those turnovers are glaringly obvious. He needs some work. I think he will be good, but they can't force it. Last night they were forcing a LOT. Carmelo and Amare should have taken more control of the game. Oh and Baron Davis - where did he go??

(16,113 posts)You can't turn the ball over that often and be successful in the NBA, just ask the 7 people ahead of him on that list...
1 Russell Westbrook , OKC
1 Deron Williams , NJN
3 John Wall , WAS
4 Kobe Bryant , LAL
5 Rajon Rondo , BOS
6 Steve Nash , PHX
7 LeBron James , MIA
8 Jeremy Lin , NYK
9 Kevin Durant , OKC

(41,692 posts)We truly need a full season from him to see how good he really is.
It's like a rookie pitcher who comes in and dominates.
His second and third go-around is where he proves himself---because the Pros can figure you out real quick.

(16,113 posts)the players can also make adjustments as well. He certainly does have a way to go to prove himself.

(7,429 posts)If he has played 11 games this season and has 76 turnovers - that means he averages 6.9 per game. Far more than the 3.6 you mention above.

His minutes per game are considerably lower than the other players on the list, though. Even according to your link, he averages 3.6 per game.

(16,113 posts)same as the one on NBA.com. He's only STARTED 11 games, but he's played in 21. Since they don't break down turnovers in games he started vs. games he came off the bench, all I can really go on is (# of turnovers)/(ALL games played). Given that his minutes per game are also affected, if you did the math you could determine turnovers/minute played and that should be a little higher than those above him on my list.

He has 5.4 TOV, but he also has 21.6 PPG and 8.6 APG which is higher than regular averages of 14.4 and 5.8

His Player Efficiency Rating is very high though.
