(252,191 posts)I'm from Saratoga and know people who are there today. We used to sometimes go to the track with my Dad, loved to see the horses, but we never made it to the Travers since the crowds are even more unmanageable than usual, traffic is at a stop all over town.
I know it's a disappointment that Justify didn't run, but then neither did Secretariat, back in the day.
Thanks for the post!

(1,639 posts)....for the post. Catholic Boy really made it look easy. His last two races were on the grass and I wondered how he would fare switching back to dirt. He has grown up.
I've never made it to Saratoga for the races. It's on my Bucket List, though.
Did Justify do enough to be Horse of the Year?

(252,191 posts)This race was impressive enough that no one has any reason to be disappointed. I agree that Catholic Boy has what it takes after this race which is traditionally the best lineup of the year!
And I do think that Justify deserves that title, he really made history this year and deserves the recognition. Secretariat didn't run in the Travers either and he is probably the most impressive horse in racing history.
