(31,156 posts)Thats where I started my career, so this is only right or fitting because I did great things in the Bay Area, Owens said on a media conference call that covered many topics over 30 minutes.
Owens, 45, noted he absolutely will attend his formal induction into the 49ers Hall of Fame at a to-be-determined weekend this coming season when the 49ers play at Levis Stadium.

As for fan support, JonLP24 may be a tad too generous with his description of me. I'm having a love/hate relationship with the NFL and football in general. The college and pro level has been wrecked by money, and I loathe the way CTE and other long-term injury has been glossed-over by fat cat owners.
Yet I love the concept of the game. As Michael Corleone laments, it keeps pulling me back in.
I don't necessarily cheer for three teams anymore as much as I follow them out of curiosity.
I grew up in Cleveland and spent many years watching sub-par Browns teams in freezing Municipal Stadium. I want them to succeed if only to reward their long-time suffering fans.
Bill Walsh and Joe Montana arrived in San Francisco the same year as me. Need I say more? Hard to believe new ownership (the Yorks) could screw it up so bad. The blueprint was there. All they had to do was follow it. Maybe Lynch/Shanahan can create another Harbaugh miracle. I'm curious to find out.
As for the Raiders? Mark Davis is a lying piece of shit scumbag and holy cow do I want to see him fail. This was once one of the coolest teams in the pros. It has a great fan base that Davis treats like shit. Trade Khalil Mack? Trade Amari Cooper? This is a team to cheer against.

(17,301 posts)Thanks for the background.
I'm a guy without a team, essentially. I grew up loving the Cincinnati Bengals. That was the Boomer Esiason, Cris Collinsworth, Ickey Woods (shuffle) era.
Then I developed a man-crush on Peyton Manning. I thought he was all class. But, for years, I never knew about his college incident with the female team trainer and what ensued from that. When I read about it, his image was shattered. Plus, as it turns out, he's a right-winger who golfs with Trump.
These days I tend to simply enjoy prime match ups between the top teams in the league. I generally cheer against the Patriots but I absolutely concede they are the greatest dynasty in sports (the Montreal Canadiens have a case for that title but they were dominant in a much smaller NHL at the time).

(29,322 posts)Especially the NCAA which is a cartel that doesn't pay players their market value. The NFL for stadium subsidies. Michelle Beadle was right when it seems the NFL doesn't care about women very much with covering up domestic violence, Robert Kraft, and the way they treat and underpay cheerleaders and not a lot in the front office either.
Cardinals owner came out in favor of Kavanaugh and recently hired Vance Joseph. Hiring Kingsbury was bad enough I'm so close to becoming a Browns fan myself and I suffered through some very shitty seasons but certainly won't give money to the Cardinals organization. ASU games for me despite my stance on the NCAA.

(17,301 posts)who the hell is Eli Manning going to throw to this season? Sterling Shepherd. That's about it? Have the Giants signed anyone? They need to replace Manning anyway, either by trade or through the draft.
