Game, set and match - Kenin wins Australian Open

Muguruza 6-4 2-6 2-6 Kenin

Double fault from Garbine Muguruza! On match point. Unbelievable.

Sofia Kenin, the 21-year-old American, is the Australian Open champion!

but well done to Sonia.

And at least it wasn’t Collins.

Pulling for Domi tomorrow. But I’ll probably be disappointed again.

Really disappointed she won against Coco, but so proud she won it all.

Her response to going down 0-40 on her serve, at 2-2, in the 3rd Set, was amazing.....winner, winner, winner, ace, winner. Remarkable. This after beating back two set points each set in the Semifinal vs Ash Barty. All in her first time into the final four of a Major.

She was barely referenced on Tennis Channel’s Pre Tournament rundown. That certainly won’t be the case for the foreseeable future now.

If Muguruza is indeed back in form those two, as Garbiñe said, might tangle several more times deep in tournaments.
