Chuck Bednarik's hit on Frank Gifford, 60 years ago

Holy cow!

The concussion Gifford suffered as a result sidelined him not just for the rest of that season, but for the entire 1961 season as well.

It was that big a hit. It was an arm tackle. Gifford said repeatedly that he didn’t see Bednarik coming and wasn’t prepared for the contact. The concussion occurred when his head hit the ground.
