(15,511 posts)They've got the better team.
They'll need to make a lot of mistakes to lose this one.

(15,511 posts)2014 was different, even as Alabama had a big lead early in that game. tOSU was moving the ball on them really well in that semifinal game even as they fell behind.
Not the same feel this time at all.
Very disappointed that Trey Sermon broke his collar bone, but he likely wouldn't have been enough to keep them in this game regardless.
Edit: Plus this is a very down year for the Buckeyes defense. Only real hope for them was to win an offensive shoot-out imo.

(15,511 posts)I still don't care for millionaire Dabo Swinney for "going off" a few years ago about how it would be so wrong for the players to get paid at all. (I think he later backed off a bit, but that particular video still ticked me off.)

(15,511 posts)Meanwhile, more missed tackles by the Buckeyes defense like I've seen all season. It's not only the strength of the 'Bama players, trust me, but that helps them too.

(22,599 posts)Even with DeVonta out, they are moving the ball.

(15,511 posts)The Buckeyes defense just isn't very good this year either, at least compared to some past seasons.
Alabama is VERY solid too, from top to bottom. They definitely earned the trophy.

(61,175 posts)This crap of picking 4 teams from some preordained collective of teams is a sham.
Are the teams good, sure.
Do they deserve to be there? Their fans think so.
If they are the best, they could play in a real playoff of 20 teams and get there because they proved themselves to be the best.

(7,964 posts)The CFP winner has come down to Alabama and Clemson, with LSU an outlier last year. Ohio State, Georgia and Oklahoma have gotten in but it's really come to those two as to having a chance at winning it all for the most part. It's getting old for the average fan, which is one reason they need to at least go to an eight team playoff to help interest.

(29,883 posts)So all the best recruits go to Alabama then they go back to the title game. It is a never ending cycle.
Also mid-majors pretty much have no shot. They even had a better shot under the BCS. If Boise State didn't lose to Colin Kaepernick and Nevada Boise State probably would have been in the national title game that year.

(32,981 posts)their offense looked and played like a pro-style offense. Blocking, routes, plays, performance. If you were a top recruit why wouldn't Alabama be your first choice, especially if you had aspirations to play in the NFL?
I watched until halftime. By then it was clear Ohio was totally out-coached and out-classed.
