Has Women's Basketball Taken a Few Steps Back?

I have been watching women's basketball for a number of years. In recent years, I have begun to think that it seems like women's basketball at both the professional and college level have taken a few steps back. When women's basketball started to gain attention, supporters of women's basketball defended it by saying it was more fundamental then men's basketball. That may have been the case then, but it does not seem to be so now. The women's game seems to be less fundamental now. At time it seems like the players just throw up shots whether or not they are good shots. In other instances the players do not seem to have good form when taking certain shots, mainly layups and shots close to the basket. So, what do others think? Has women's basketball taken a few steps back?

1. Only seen highlights but I can see what you are saying.

Women’s Golf and basketball especially have always stood out for how almost perfect their form is. Women are make better at accepting instruction and just scoring isn’t enough.

I have seen highlights and shots that I thought looked pretty wild in any game. The men’s game also has changed a lot from less coaching control and the pro game is an open European game and has been for about 10 years.

Can you give me an example of horrible things Gino has done? I know he and Pat Summit had a rivalry that at times got heated. I think both sides said a few harsh things. Is there anything else that causes you to call him a horrible person?

Those who have worked in women’s basketball know what I’m talking about.
He cared only about winning for himself.
Pat cared about winning, of course, but mostly about marketing and promoting the game.
I will answer no more questions on this subject.

12. I worked in the women's game for many years.

He could have just as easily won all of those games and titles without hurting, belittling, and besmirching so many people along the way. There are many women in the Connecticut program, especially teachers and faculty at UConn, that are extremely embarrassed by his boorish behavior but they know he is untouchable because of all of his championships.
Pat finally got fed up and canceled the games once best and most exciting rivalry because of it.
Then, of course, she was diagnosed with early onset dementia and she declined rapidly.

7. Even Connecticut

It seems to me that even Connecticut has taken a step or two back. There step may not be as bad, but they seems to not be as good as they were a few years ago.

3. I have only seen it get better IMO

The pro side anyway. I saw Candace Parker's pro debut and was very impressed. I also like to watch players such as Elena Delle Donne.

To me the biggest difference between the NBA and WNBA is the dunking though there are WNBA players that can dunk. I mentioned one of them--Candace Parker.
