...Baffert gave the horse any medication on or near race day. Betamethasone is not a PED and the level detected, 21 pico grams is not even going to do anything as far as blocking pain.
What I do suspect is that Baffert had a sore horse in the weeks leading up to the Derby. He didn't want to stop on the horse so he had Betamethasone administered so he could continue training and be fit for the Derby. The drug did not clear his system in the 14 day time period that Churchill recommends.
