World champion U.S. women's soccer kicking it in Texas this summer

Guess who's coming to kick it in Texas? The U.S. Women's National Team — reigning champions of the world — will play three games in the Lone Star State next month.

As part of the USWNT Summer Series, Megan Rapinoe and crew play Houston's BBVA Stadium June 10 and June 13 before heading to Austin to christen that city's brand-new Q2 Stadium on June 16.

In Houston, the U.S. will take on Portugal on Thursday, June 10, at 7:30 p.m. before going head-to-head with Jamaica on Sunday, June 13, at 9 p.m. The team then travels to the Capital City, where U.S. will play Nigeria during the first official match at Austin's new $260 million facility.

“We are extremely excited for U.S. Women’s National Team to play the first soccer match at Austin FC’s Q2 Stadium,” says U.S. Women’s National Team head coach Vlatko Andonovski in a release. “The development of Austin FC has been impressive and fun to watch, and the way the community has embraced the Club is inspiring. We can’t wait to play there and feel that energy.”

Lots of soccer interest in this area. Both men's and women's UNC soccer teams in quarter finals.

UNC also in finals tonight in field hockey.

Also still in playoffs for M/W lacrosse.

Go Heels!
