They've had to stop the Tennessee-Miss game because fans are throwing stuff from the stands

They haven't officially suspended the game yet or anything, but there's been a really long delay because fans have been throwing so much trash (water bottles, a golf ball, other debris) on the field. This is a bit of a crazy scene.

On edit: they wound up delaying the game for about 20 minutes in order to finish the last 53 seconds or so. I can't remember ever seeing a delay that long for fan behavior.

2. Yeah--Tennessee had a 4th and 24 and picked up about

23.5 on a spot that looked like it was maybe shorter than it should have been. They reviewed it but didn't have an angle to overturn, so the call stood and stuff started flying in from the stands.

3. Lane Kiffen was hit with a golf ball.

I guess Tennessee fans don't like him very much.

4. I'll look for the video later.

The worst case that I remember, involving Cleveland Browns fans after the refs reviewed a play after another play was already ran:

8. Thanks for sharing this

I don't remember this game. Maybe that's good. What a disaster.

5. Video...

Not as bad as other spectator incidents that I've seen, but it's not the way people should react.

The ball placement WAS horrible by the refs, though! It was marked about where the receiver's knee hit the turf, not the ball's location when that happened! And it stood even after being reviewed!

But there's certainly no guarantee that it changed the outcome, anyway. (And it might've still been short of a first down, even if it wasn't marked where his knee hit.)

6. There was another play in the first half that was even worse

Tennessee forced a fumble and returned it for a touchdown. There was never a whistle and the runner was never down, but during the review the refs ruled that forward progress had been stopped (which, iirc, isn't supposed to be reviewable, but they might have changed that rule), so Tennessee lost the points and Ole Miss got the ball back.

I agree with you on the spot--bad spot but quite possibly still not enough for the first down.

7. I later read about that bad call too.

Plus complaints about Ole Miss players faking injuries, taunting fans during the game, etc.

Not an excuse to throw stuff onto the field, of course, but the frustration had apparently built up for awhile.

I'll always remember a play, from years ago, when the Bengals swatted the football out of a Raiders player's hands and they quickly recovered it. There was absolutely no controversy about the Raiders player being down, in the grasp or anything else. It was a bang-bang play, with the ball being swatted out immediately.

Then a ref said that a whistle was blown before the fumble -- WHY?! And why didn't anyone hear it?! -- and the TV commentators eventually moved on like it was no big deal, after they very briefly expressed their disagreement with the refs' reversal of the fumble. My impression was, "It's only the Bengals anyway, those losers." It was a close game too, with the Raiders winning by less than one score.

9. Brought a golf ball to a football game

Hmm wonder what they were planning on doing with it.
