And brought a lot of minority youth into the sport. Overall, he did good. Hopefully his private life keeps getting better.

Anyone could do it, it would be him.

At all times anyway. I feel bad for him. He has been a joy to watch over the years. He could use car time to rest or do work since he has so much going on between golf and his other business ventures. His time would be more valuable than paying someone to do the driving.

Purposeful or not, he's a bad driver and should have hired someone to drive him around.

If the PGA hadn't "Tiger-Proofed" their courses to prevent him from dominating with his swinging power.

So, that argument is a little hollow. As Jack did not have a different formula ball from everyone else on tour that was made for Toger.

The bigger issue to me was what a jerk he was to all the little people on the way up. He stiffed waiters and waitresses with no tips on thousands of dollars when the old Cincinnati tournament occurred. Rude to all the little people who couldn't help him get ahead and super nice to the press.

As the Anti-Steve Carlton, the press gave him a free pass for years.

First, the redesign of courses due to Jack were far less extreme than the "Tiger Proofing" efforts.
Adding 10 yards and a fairway bunker only Jack could reach is different than adding 40 yards, and putting a pond in front of a par 5 to prevent hitting it in two with a low draw.
Absolutely correct that it happened to Jack, but it's sort of apples to oranges.
As to the golf ball formula thing, that's simple untrue.
The PGA does not allow equipment that doesn't conform to USGA rules. And, those rules require that golf balls used be commercially available. Not just to the other pros, but to any golfer playing in the US.
It's actually been a rule since the balata cover days.
The golf ball provided no advantage to Tiger not available to any of his competitors.
Lastly, early in his career those same criticisms about stinginess and surliness were aimed toward Jack. It wasn't until the early 70s when he became more affable & fan friendly. He was a top flight pro for more than a decade by then.
I don't approve of that sort of behavior, but you isolated it to Tiger when people said the exact same thing about The Bear.

And somewhat ironic.
He thrice changed his swing when he was by far the dominant player in the world.
This caused over 3 lean seasons where, on each side of the change, he was winning 5-8 events a year and at least one major.
He made the changes to be sure he could play until he was 50.
Then, the back went sideways despite the changes, and the knee problem was actually caused by the second swing change.
And, he didn't make it to 50 anyway.
It's likely he'd have 12 more wins & at least 4 more majors at this point, had he left well enough alone.

And not also get angry at ceiling cat for getting them into an accident in the first place?

Or maybe the whole Ceiling Cat enterprise is geared to power for selected elites, selected by pre-existing elites. Hence elaborate justifications for logical inconsistencies or a standard pattern of sweeping inconsistencies under the carpet. "Nothing to see here, move along, it's just a laser pointer."

Or maybe Ceiling Cat just turns out to be a photo turned 90% of a hole in drywall.

Too bad; he is a great athlete, but allowed his personal life to control it. He did not have a good grasp on his beyond golf living. The home life with his ex, drugs, poor decisions caused a premature end to his career. Although, his accident did almost take his leg, and even his life, he should be very thankful no one was with him, or driving on that road that night.

I wish him good luck in his future, and do praise him for the work his foundation has done for over 25 years or so.

when you make poor decisions. Drug addiction, however, is something other than a "poor decision". Often it's an attempt at self-medication for some kind of mental problem, whether depression, impostor syndrome, or whatever. I have my suspicions that "golden boys" like Tiger may suffer from something like impostor syndrome sometimes. I've certainly seen some who do.

One person who needs to be commended is former NFL QB Alex Smith. He reached out to Tiger during his recovery. Having suffered a similar gruesome injury and nearly losing his leg also, he was able to offer the kind of support only someone who had gone through the same thing could. I suspect he was a great source of help for Tiger.

They’re playing in the PNC Championship pro-Am……. Son, Charlie looks exactly like his mom. Kinda fun watching them. But golf channel is annoying because it’s ALL TIGER/CHRIS ALL THE TIME. They don’t really follow a lot of the other pairs.
