I am very impressed with Mikaela Shiffrin

Despite very disappointing performances early in the olympics she has done extensive interviews throughout after every single performance. And in my opinion she has been crazy honest and open about her thoughts feelings and vulnerabilities. Almost no athletes that I can think of tell what they are actually thinking, especially when things aren't going their way. They usually fall back of sports speak and platitudes. It takes a damn strong person to put it out there in the spotlight when they are struggling the way she has.

threw the door wide open on this. Her courage at the Summer Games last year has made it acceptable for elite athletes to show that they have the same fears and vulnerabilities that we all do.

More power to all athletes, and more support to them too, when they are in need of it.

As far as I’m concerned, any winter Olympian who completes their run deserves my respect, medal or no medal. These people are performing incredible feats at high speed while performing on ice.

Any athlete who finishes without serious injury is a winner in my book.

Even though the performances haven't been anywhere near what she dreamed of, she's shown remarkable poise and grace.

There will be at least 2 more Olympics in her future. Most of the elite racers choke on the world stage of the Olympics.

She is on track to have most career wins beating the great Ingemar Stenmark 86 wins.

Currently I believe she stands at 73 wins.

Brings back fond memories from my zappa days.

Most of those other top racers who had a bad day on the Olympic stage came back and dominated the next time.
